SCC raises money for Kids Marathon

Smith Cranes was pleased to sponsor former SCC employee and Tim Smith’s brother, Hon Dr Nick Smith for the 2023 New York Marathon to raise funds for the charity Rod Dixon’s KiDs Marathon.

Nick ran the 42.2 km in 5:02 - not bad for an old fella! Nick worked for Smith Cranes for 18 months as Wind Energy Director between retiring from Parliament and being elected Mayor of Nelson.

Rod Dixon was a Nelsonian who won the NY marathon 40 years ago. His charity has had 1.3 million children (mainly in USA) run a mile a day for 26 days to complete a marathon. Smith Cranes support will help along with other sponsors to establish the program in NZ.
