Kiwi Rail Bridge 45 Midland Line Replacement
KiwiRail recently engaged Smith Crane and Construction to replace two of the timber piers that support the steel girder bridge on bridge 45 midland line near Arthurs Pass in Canterbury.
The successful project utilized the unique temporary works system, which incorporated permanent piles to form the foundation of the temporary structure, allowing for the removal of the existing timber piers and the installation of new cast-in-situ piles and precast pier caps.
A big thank you to our on-site crew - Alex Waller, Scotty Blackler, Hemi Tihema, Seth Barham, Project Engineer Dave McCallum, and project leads Daniel Gardiner & Matt Draper - for their hard work and dedication.
