Tower Crane Removal - Wellington Town Hall

Tower crane removals are always tricky – never more so than when they run right through a precious heritage building and right over critical infrastructure. Huge credit to our team that worked hard to ensure this was a seamless removal.

The Tower Crane at Wellington Town Hall has done sterling work over the past two years, allowing Naylor Love to complete the roof strengthening works.

Our team led by Steve McAdam ensured the Tower Crane was successfully removed using our 400-tonne mobile crane with a 28-meter fly jib, balanced by a 75-tonne counterweight. The mobile crane straddled the Wellington CBD’s main sewer and stormwater pipes – a miss-step from below or above could have been spectacularly bad. The weeks of planning paid off, and it was a relieved team that sent 14 truck and trailer load of crane parts on their way down Wakefield Street.

Huge congratulations to Steve McAdam, Barry Meiring, Kayden Bourke, Josh Gibbs, Jury Pahau, Mason Laurenson-Peters, and the wider team.
