Last Pre Assembly Safely Completed at Turitea Windfarm

The last pre-assembly has been safely completed with the LG1550 at WTG403 for the Harapaki Wind Farm Project located in Hawkes Bay. The Harapaki Windfarm consists of 41 SGRE DD120 4.3MW turbines with blades around 60m with a tip height of 145m, that will generate enough power to power 70,000 kiwi homes.

Our Liebherr LTR11200 telescopic boom crawler crane, New Zealand's largest crane, has made assembling turbines a dream as it has the ability to lift turbine components to a hub height of 120m, well in excess of the 85m hub height for this project. Lifting a maximum of 116t for the Nacelle and Generator. Our Liebherr LG1550 550t all-terrain crane, Liebherr LTR1220 220t crawler crane, Grove GMK6300L, Grove GMK5130-2 all-terrain crane and variety of heavy plant have been busy getting these turbines up.

So far 22 turbines are already generating 95MW of renewable energy - that's enough to power around 40,000 homes. Harapaki is expected to be fully commissioned by the end of September 2024.

We would like to thank our valued partners Meridian Energy and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE), and a big thank you to our windfarm crew lead by Site Manager - Rusty Rhodes, Site Commercial Manager - Jeremy Dalzell, Wind Energy Contracts and Engineering Manager - Lawrence McBreen Smith and all of our talented team - many who have come from all corners of the world to help build these turbines.
